Here's a view of our backyard after the recent rainstorm that dumped 17+ inches on us...
Nyuk, nyuk! I'm kidding! I'm kidding! Greg and I spent last weekend in Niagara Falls. I kept getting "Flood Warning!" emails on my Blackberry from Channel 8 and from the National Weather Service, but we had no idea how bad the situation really was here. After being rained on, and getting spewed on by the Falls, and driving the 8-9 hours home through rain, we thought we'd seen (and felt) enough moisture to last us.
We're on the top of a hill here, so we didn't fare too badly. Apart from some wet spots in the basement, most of the water either drained into our pond or pooled nto the backyard. I noticed a couple of mallard ducks using the yard as a backyard spa.
Greg, bless his heart, ran out to purchase a Shop-Vac, and has been battling the dampness ever since. Today's the first day it's stayed dry long enough for much evaporation to occur.

Appropriate photo. :) I can't even imagine 17 inches coming down in one storm. Glad you came through as well as you did.
